JUAN MANUEL BIOTT
My tought is, if you find your passsion when you are really young, that means that you are going to enjoy it more intense… I was 6 years old when I started to fish, and 10 when i first grabed papa´s fly rod, that was the exact moment which put me right where I am today. I was (and still am) really lucky that my grandparents own an Estancia called Rio Pelke with two small creeks full of brookies and brownies. I used to spend entire summers walking, watching and learning to read water with my father or by myself on my childhood, as well as learning a lot of the gauchos customs and duties. At the same time I developed my other passion, singing rock! I became a real fisherman when I caught my first sea run on the Gallegos river, I didn´t know by then that hooking an 8 pounds, silver as plate, sea run brown trout on a dry fly was a whole experience! Well, I know it now that I had been guiding my last 5 years in Las Buitreras Lodge, where I have learned most of my fishing techniques and all the things you need to know to be a guide. I went to Buenos Aires to study tourism management and got my degree as fast as I could, just to turn back home. Today I´m 26 years old and I work as a full time guide and fly casting instructor, during the year I teach in the local university and I consider myself lucky to sing the music that I like and even get paid for it. Since I work in the lodge I focused all my desire of hooking fish into photography, catching moments and sharing them with everyone. That´s more than just get a good picture of a fish, I truly believe is the way of transmitting the art of fly fishing and nature, to wake up the senses and create a conscience of the nature values.
