TRAY BARRETT
It all started back when Tray was 6 years old, up at 5:30, watching a fishing show. This show was purely about tying flies. Feeling inspired, Tray tore his house to shreds looking for some thread. A size 12 hook, some white thread, his hands, and a little glue...this was the beginning of something great.
A few months later, he had his first fly rod. At the time, he had no idea that he was in the center of some of the best fishing in the U.S.A. The first fish happened to be a 14" rainbow taken out of an undisclosed location in Idaho. It only took one, and he had the disease.
A year later, the vast world of fly tying was recognized. A vice was bought, and an array of what he now considers "noob ties" was cranked out. Surprising to him at the time, these hideous mis-creations made more and more fish come to hand.
Tray has now been fly fishing...and fly tying...for over half of his life. Any species of fish possible is the target on any kind of fly...He is no purist. After all, he resides near some of the best trout waters around. Chasing carp to trout to bass to musky, he has caught his fair share of fish. But is it enough? Never. For the last two years he has been attempting...and sometimes succeeding...to travel beyond the expanse he calls home, hunting for what he needs to function as a human being. FISH.
His mission now is simple: Get people from his generation inspired to fly fish. For the most part, fly fishing is a dead sport in his generation. There are a few of the fishing "Guerillos" left, but its a sad number. Being one of the few fishheads left has only made him fish harder. Now aiming for sponsors and pro teams, there aren't many weekends...and week days for that matter that you wont find him out fishing.
Waging fish warfare wherever he goes, and leaving nothing but released fish in his wake.
